Hi Friend! It’s hard to believe we are a full month into the new year, time sure is flying! I had hoped to start my monthly newsletter in the beginning of the month, but alas, here we are, about to start February… My hope is for this monthly newsletter to be a brief overview of what I’ve been up to with Sweet C Baking, my book writing journey, Sweet C Collective, and a little bit of everyday life. This email will be the longest, as I’m setting the stage for you—so don’t worry, I promise the rest will be MUCH shorter :) If you missed my mini announcement about Sweet C Collective on Facebook / Instagram, it is a space for sharing my poems and paintings. About 6-7 months ago, I started writing poetry and picking up my paint brushes; both have served as creative outlets for stress relief, emotion processing, time with God, and a general enjoyment of life. So far, only a few of my poems & paintings are online, but I will be sharing many more, and as I continue to paint, some of the paintings will be made into prints available for purchase. I am in a season of intentionality, slowing down, establishing a new rhythm, and learning to be still with God. I’m rewiring my default to always be busy, learning that rest is, in fact, productive, and am reaping the benefits in many areas of my life — including a newfound energy for Sweet C and working on my book. Speaking of my book — I slipped it into a post about a book writing retreat I attended in October, and I mention it from time to time in everyday life. To expand a little—for the past year or so, I have had a pressing on my heart to write a book about my recovery from bulimia; I’m leaning into that and putting the journey in writing. If you’ve been following Sweet C Baking for a while, you’ve probably noticed I’ve become more vocal about my struggle with bulimia and how I’ve gained freedom from it. I’d say I have about 50% of the book content written and am putting the finishing touches on my book proposal to send to agents soon, so please say a prayer that the right person sees potential in my story and takes a chance on me in pursuing traditional book publishing. But, even if no one does, I will absolutely keep writing and self-publish—this is the book I wish I had when I was in the depth of my bulimia, a book to bring hope and encouragement to someone feeling broken and alone. With all that being said—here’s what’s been going on in the world of Sweet C:
