I had the opportunity to share my story and testimony through struggles over the past 14 years with my church’s youth group and another to talk in depth about eating disorders. I was very nervous for the first talk but extremely excited for the second—I firmly believe society does not talk enough about eating disorders and other self-harm behaviors. I know the topic is uncomfortable, but the more we talk about them, the less uncomfortable it will be. (Coincidentally, my talk lined up with National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.) The more I speak about my struggle with and recovery from bulimia, the more I notice people opening up about their own struggles. It is why I am writing my book, to do my part in breaking the stigma and helping those struggling know they are not alone. Speaking of my book, I’ve written several thousand more words and sent the book proposal to one agency. The book proposal submission process feels like the college app process all over again. I also helped host a women’s conference at my church, which we have been planning for nearly six months. It was an incredible two days hosting a space for 100+ women to seek Jesus and take a step forward in healing the brokenness in their lives as they listened to others share their stories. With all of that, I didn’t get to any painting, but I did share a few more of my poems in Sweet C Collective :)
